Warriors’ Klay Thompson praises Jordan Poole for performance

When asked about Jordan Poole’s influence on the Golden State Warriors, Klay Thompson answered with nothing but praises for the player, even calling him “baby Steph Curry.”

Poole’s set of skills has grown significantly, and his relationship with veterans like Thompson, Stephan Curry, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Green has never been better

Speaking about the Warriors’ “deadly lineup”, which included Poole, Curry, Draymond, Wiggins, and himself, Thompson said that each player had a distinct power to impact the game, which all led to their success over the Denver Nuggets.

“Well, I think the best part of that lineup is we all do things so uniquely different,” said Klay Thompson in a post-game broadcast on NBCS. “Steph with obviously the pick and roll is incredible, coming off the catch incredible, Jordan (Poole) is like a baby Steph Curry with his ability to stop and pop, with the ball in his hands and then I’m the catch and shoot guy.”

He added that “Wiggs is so great around the rim, he’s so good at attacking the rim, and his catch-and-shoot has also been great this year. Then Draymond kind of glues us all together, with his ability to playmake, navigate the defense”.

The 22-year-old guard finished with 29 points on 10-of-16 shooting and a team-high eight assists.

Warriors Coach Steve Kerr appeared to have an infinite number of options when it came to putting together a lineup for Thursday’s Game 3 against the Denver Nuggets.

Steve Kerr on Jordan Poole: “Some of the flurries reminded me of his teammate that came off the bench… He was fantastic tonight.”

“That’s just a deadly lineup and I think we’ll have to unleash that if we want to go where we want to go,” said Thompson.

Poole as third ‘Splash Bro’

Poole now acts as Curry and Thompson’s third “splash-bro”. Poole has been an outstanding complement to the explosive backcourt tandem that guided the Warriors to three titles.

The splash-bros proved invincible when matched with Poole. The three showed amazing displays for Game 2 of their first-round NBA Playoffs series against the Denver Nuggets.

The trio combined for 84 points on 60 percent of shooting in the game. They had a total plus-52. With Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green also on board, the team dominated the game.

However, Poole must continue to deliver the same performance if they want to beat teams like the Phoenix Suns in the future. His ability to influence the game with an all-around offensive effort has aided the Warriors’ winning record this year. It is critical for him to maintain his momentum.

Poole’s rising performance

Poole posting 29.5 points on 59 percent shooting from distance in his first two postseason games is stunning. He currently is currently second in team history in points scored in his first two playoff games, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain.

Poole has 20-plus points in all 17 games from March 3 to April 3. He has been a consistent player and a dominant force.
